  • Midwest Homes places great care and attention to the details that make a home special. Where some builders might cut corners to disguise the quality of a home and its price, we are passionate about the integrity of our craftsmanship and the products we endorse so the home you invest in will stand the test of time. We choose materials and products that we would want to see in our own forever home.

    • Pella windows & doors

    • 15-year foundation warranty with R10 insulation (vs. 10-year warranty with R7.5)

    • Form-a-Drain foundation footing system for foundation damp-proofing and passive radon systems

    • Engineered LVL studs for precise framing (vs. SPF studs) in kitchens and baths

    • 20" Energy Heel that allows for full depth attic insulation extending to the far edge of the exterior wall, keeping the roof edge cooler and preventing ice dams from forming in Wisconsin winters

    • "Intelligent Wall" on exterior walls for the most cost-efficient R-value, controlling dew point to avoid condensation in stud cavities

    • Floor joists are designed to a 480 lbs/sq ft live load (vs. standard 360), providing more support and less bouncy floors

    • The subfloor is glued and then fastened to the joist, screwing down after drywall is hung for additional squeak prevention

    • We use 3/4" Aspen Fir plywood for additional moisture resistance in the floor (vs. standard OSB that allows moisture in during construction)

    • Interior solid core doors

    • Poplar or pine base and casing (vs. standard MDF); Maple when stained trim is preferred

    • Custom mantels and cubbies, designed in-person during your build process with our trim craftsman

    • Round drywall corners (vs. standard square)

  • When we price out your home, we include "allowances" for design selections, priced out by each vendor. Our designer will be with you each step of the way to customize each aspect of your home. Our "standard" finishes are typically above those that are standard elsewhere, and that's because we don't believe in showing you a low price just to surprise you during the selections process or add frustratingly significant costs in upgrades.

    • Wired network with distribution panel in the mechanical room

    • Lutron lighting control, Ring doorbell and surveillance cameras, Nest thermostats

    • Granite and quartz countertops

    • Soft close cabinetry

    • Kohler plumbing fixtures with additional body sprays in primary bathrooms

    • Tile floor to ceiling in primary shower

  • At Midwest Homes Inc., our philosophy is to provide clients with a well designed and constructed home that is value engineered to provide exceptional home performance.  A high-performance home is more than just the individual parts.  It is comprised of the mindful quality needed throughout the entire building process.

    Things we take into account:

    • The rigid insulation on the exterior of the concrete foundation walls and exterior framed walls

    • The U-value of the windows and doors

    • The insulation in the walls and ceilings

    • The furnace and air conditioning equipment sizing

    • The thermostat controls and zoning of the HVAC system

    • The mechanical ventilation of the home and the furnace filtering options to increase the air quality.

While we look to maximize your home performance, we also consider all the ways we can get the best value for your home.  For instance, sometimes you are better off upgrading insulation versus upgrading mechanical equipment as you may get more savings over time with less upfront costs.  It is this type of expertise and knowledge that can increase the home performance and value of your custom built home.

We combine those components with the guidelines from the Green Built Home Program and the Focus on Energy New Homes Program, to create the best value for the dollar for our clients. However, that is only part of a “high-performance home”.

A true high performance home also integrates smart home technology to improve the functionality of the home.  We work with Elite AV and Automation to provide you with the best products and technology in the market.  We believe that a home should have the ability to be controlled at the touch of finger.  That is why we provide a base system in all of our homes that includes a wired network with a distribution panel, as well as a wireless router, all connected to a Control4 processor.  This allows the wireless NEST thermostats and your mobile devices to talk to each other. The Control4 system is also expandable to include lighting control, security systems and cameras, audio throughout the house, and much more.

  • Brian McKee, President of Midwest Homes, will not only design your home to meet your needs and budget, but he will plan for efficient material usage and construction from the very start to make sure you get the most home for your dollar.

  • We proudly offer Turnkey Financing for our homes so you can close at completion and avoid having to use a construction loan. We only requiring a loan commitment and down payment up front. Contact us for more information!

  • Our in-house designer, Kelly, will keep you on schedule, setting up appointments with our vendors to customize every aspect of your new home. She'll offer design guidance throughout, also finding creative ways to make your "dream home" Pinterest board come alive without stretching the budget.

  • We stand behind our quality because we know our quality. We build a limited number of homes per year so we can maintain our standard of excellent craftsmanship and care with our own team of dedicated craftsmen.

  • Yes, landscaping is actually included! We include everything except window coverings so you're ready to move right in at completion. We price out your plans from the start, locking in pricing so you're in control of any price changes throughout the selection process.

  • Credibility when choosing a builder for your home is a top priority. We could tell you how great we are, but we let Avid Rating, an established independent rating company reflect our credibility. Every client who builds with Midwest Homes receives 3 surveys through the construction process.  One after the design phase of the home, another after their selections are completed, and a third after they have closed on their new home. We listen to our clients feedback and continue to constantly improve our process. Customer satisfaction is a top priority. Click here to review our ratings.

  • Your new home is covered “head to toe” for one year per our contract. Manufacturer and product warranties take over after that point.  We go the extra mile, and do a one-year warranty walk-through with you at your home to make sure everything is looking great! We stand by our craftsmanship and encourage you to keep in touch even well beyond that first year!
